The tone of my paragraph will be exciting, within a happy mood; my diction will be informal, but not slang. (This is a real story in 317 words that happened to my life some time ago):

[My watch is still showing the leisurely, romantic time of Latin America, but through the plane’s window, the unique brightness of the Mediterranean sun proves that my sentimental dream is true-to-life: Finally, I’m back! I am reborn to explore hopeful emotions, to rediscover jovial memories of the past: a past of happiness to be revived. I’m carrying 80 kg. of luggage, when my mobile phone rings. My first ringtone back home sounds so affectionate… My best friend’s voice, inviting me to have lunch together, makes me forget the incredible weight of my belongings and jump cheerfully through the passport control bars. The hilariously strict face of the officer –showing me the way back to the control line- wakes me up from my fervent desire to meet my people, while I’m listening to myself: -“Hey, Angel, can you believe that? I’m here! My feet are feeling the sweet warmth of our land; my lungs are full of orange blossom perfume… It’s Spring, Angel! Mediterranean Spring! Spring in my soul… I’ll be with you soon, but right now I feel like having a traditional coffee at my favorite corner –you know where- under the olive and pine trees, by the ancient temple, remember? I need to fall in love again; this time with the place, with the local people! I need to drink a delightful, transparent, blue glass of water and see through it –like an excited gipsy fortuneteller- my own life, a passionate life to be lived…” Near my table, a brass band is opening for me the paths of music and my life’s optimistic roads. In front of me, by the bell tower, a palm tree –two adorable, nostalgic worlds: I feel grateful for what I’ve had until now there, in Latin America, and exhilarated for the future that is expecting me to experience from now on, here, in the Mediterranean…]

University of California Berkley assessment & comments: 10/10 Very good use of the vocabulary and the tone. Nice sentences with blended meanings and nice use of commas.)

[My text aims to give out the general atmosphere of my multi-cultural neighborhood, in an informal, quasi-slang diction, with some humoristic social critique, in 263 words:]

Welcome to my place! It’s a cozy loft apartment with ravishing view, in the center of a restless rush, under the breathtaking “poster” of a strikingly Mediterranean blue sky, where everybody can have a wonderful time in their way. At the lobby of my building, beautiful people –old native ones, among foreign newcomers (the so-called “lazy, dirty, no-good bums”)- snarl one another: “I wonder why you strangers don’t stay home and enjoy it…” At the corner, next to a “Marlboro-tastes-good” sign, the local travel agency moves forth and back uninterrupted flights of deliriously happy or mad people. All of a sudden, while holding a local snack that you desperately want to devour, you can bump into an ancient column or a modern shopping center made of glass. You look around at ugly housewives with hair rollers giving hugs and suffocating in their loving arms their straight All Patriot, Republican, church-going, businessmen, who -on second thought- might be drunken bastard womanizers, showing off pretty-body to African curl-free, ladylike, bitchy girlfriends with platinum-frosted fingernails, turgid breasts and shocking eyelashes. In the meantime and two roads higher, those “filthy, no-good Communist terrorists” dare to talk about independence, but you won’t swallow this crap. Take it as a fantastic occasion to experience folklore during this one-week leave! At the nearby white-sanded, pine tree-lined beach, some middle-class, flower-shirted, Bermuda-Shorted, full-blood Continentals -predominantly senile, with rheumatic fever- are tasting their favorite typical drinks. Just relax and take your time to discover such original, small “treasures” in the fuss of my place, out of the beaten road! Such is life…
